Flying conditions to expect
- Mountain passes here can funnel and accelerate wind well beyond what's happening in the valley towns either side
- Cloud can sit on the higher ridgelines even on a calm, clear day at valley level — worth checking layered wind and visibility, not just the surface reading
- Conditions often differ meaningfully between the Llanberis side of the range and the Nantlle side of the same massif
Best light for photography
The lakes at the foot of Snowdon catch dramatic reflected light at both ends of the day, and low sun raking across the ridgelines is a favourite among Snowdonia regulars.
